Kératoses séborrhéiques: une localisation inhabituelle

Seborrhoeic keratoses (SKs) are common benign epithelial tumors. They preferentially arise on seborrheic skin areas such as the face and the trunk, rarely on the genital area. We report the case of a 41-year old patient with no particular past medical history presenting with pubic lesions evolving for three years. Clinical examination showed blackish keratosis lesions having a cerebriform appearance at the level of the penis. Skin biopsy showed seborrhoeic keratoses. The patient underwent electrocoagulationcurettage therapy. There are two theories about mechanisms responsible for the development of SKs. The first assumes that SKs are due to keratinocytes proliferation leading to apoptosis inhibition and survivin expression. The second assumes that SKs are due to an accumulation of senescent keratinocytes with overexpression of p16 protein. In the case of genital SKs, current literature points to a possible role of chronic friction and HPV infection. Treatment is based on surgical resection, curettage, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, application of trichloroacetic acid, electrosection or ablation using CO2 laser. If SKs, a priori, do not pose any major health problem, their location at the level of the genital area can negatively impact patient’s sex life, where the importance of early treatment.
